John Alexander Pierce M.D. is an artist, mask maker, author and retired Plastic Surgeon. Since retiring, he and his wife make their home in the beautiful Arizona Sonora desert of Southern Arizona.

Dr Pierce has had live long interests in biology and archeology. He spent 5 months working as a biologist on an iceberg research station in the arctic between collage and medical school. He served as the doctor for an archeology expedition in a remote area of the Peruvian Andes in 1985.

The creation of art is an important part of life. Plastic surgery was a wonderful way to apply art. In addition to surgery, oil painting since childhood, sculptures in clay, bronze and paper mache', mask making, base relief sculpture with acrylic painting and eurathane foam helmet covers, and writing have been serious pursuits.
